Widening and strengthening the road from Solan to Shimla could ease traffic congestion and boost tourism. However, any conventional retaining structure was unfeasible at such heights. Retaining such huge amounts of soil required proper reinforcement.
M/s Airef Engineering Pvt. Ltd. assigned the construction of the Reinforced Earth® Wall to Geoquest India, which built four structures with different systems and integrated solutions: three were built at a 70-degree slope with the ArmaGreen® system, and one at a 90-degree slope with the GeoTrel system. Geoquest India also proposed a unique solution for one of the structures using the ArmaGreen®sytem along with TerraLink® where space was not available. This was done as per the requirement of the site.
